Research Interests
My main research focus is on financial markets and institutions. I am especially interested in financial market failures. Some recent publications have examined Structured Investment Vehicles, a market that was created and grew to over $400 billion over 20 years before suddenly collapsing. I have also examined how financial managers can manage risk in their institutions. Recently I received support from the Leir and Ridgefield foundations to examine the causes of financial bubbles with a hope to create predictive models. I have published work examining how entrepreneurs entice business angels to provide financing for new ventures. Our results we demonstrate how angels are different from venture capital firms.

Are Angel Investors Egotists? Evaluating Implicit Bias in Investing
We study a sample of angel investor ratings for potential investments and evaluate if there is similarity bias in the ratings. We find some evidence that angel investors tend to invest in people who are like themselves
