Joseph Micale
About Me
Joseph A. Micale is a CPA, former auditor, and current Assistant Professor of Accounting at the Martin Tuchman School of Management at the New Jersey Institute of Technology. His primary areas of interests are the intersection of accounting, finance, and data science with focuses on auditing, accounting regulation, Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG), and Capital Markets. He has several studies published in highly-ranked, peer reviewed journals such as the Journal of Business Finance and Accounting, Accounting and Business Research, Advances in Accounting, and Applied Economic Letters. His has presented at several national and international conferences such as the American Accounting Association and Financial Management Association. As an instructor, Professor Micale has taught courses in auditing, financial accounting, and managerial accounting, has taught at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, and has taught in a variety of learning modalities. He is a dedicated and passionate teacher who incorporates real-world in-class examples, promotes an active learning environment, and consistently receives high student evaluations. Professor Micale has served as a peer reviewer for several peer-reviewed academic journals and is currently the co-guest editor for an ESG special issue for the South Asian Journal of Business Studies. In addition to his PhD, he holds a BS and MS in Accounting from Binghamton University and an MS in Global Finance from Fordham University.
