About Me
Mesut Sahin received the B.S. degree in electrical engineering from Istanbul Technical University, Turkey in 1986 and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in biomedical engineering from Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, Ohio in 1993 and 1998. He joined Louisiana Tech University, Ruston, LA as an Assistant Professor of Biomedical Engineering in 2001. He has been on the faculty of Biomedical Engineering at New Jersey Institute of Technology, Newark, NJ since Fall 2005 with promotion to Associate Professor in 2009 and Full Professor in 2015. His current research interests include Neuromodulation of the cerebellum using transcranial AC Stimulation (tACS) and Focused Ultrasound (FUS). He has developed floating microstimulators for the spinal cord (FLAMES) and studied the activity of the descending pathways of the spinal cord in correlation to the forelimb function in animal models. He has authored more than 100 peer-reviewed publications, acquired three patents, and written a textbook on bioinstrumentation. He has mentored 17 PhD and 23 Master’s theses. Mesut Sahin is a Senior Member of IEEE/EMBS since 2006.
