About Me
Emily Edwards is a university lecturer in the Theatre and Technology program at NJIT. She teaches a wide variety of classes including Theatre History, as well as teaching Acting for Animation for the Digital Design department. Emily had also adjuncted at Rutgers and Brooklyn College. She has an MFA in Directing from Brooklyn College and has been working as a performing artist in NYC for the past 20 years. Associate member of SDC.

Teaching Interests
Emily loves investigating the pedagogy of all elements of theatre. She believes that exploring theatre history from a world perspective is more important than just studying Western theater. Emily also believes in exploring acting through a physical lens, rather than just a psychological lens.

Research Interests
As a theatre artist, Emily is drawn to many different areas of theatre and loves to continue to explore those areas. Specifically, she is drawn to movement which includes all styles of dance, intimacy direction, and stage combat. She also very much enjoys directing both plays and musicals.
