About Me
Dr. Shekhar is an Assistant Professor - Engineering Education and the interim coordinator of the engineering education division in the School of Applied Engineering and Technology. Prior to his current appointment, he worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher and Assistant Research Scientist at University of Michigan. He has served as the Associate Editor of Journal of Women and Minorities in Science and Engineering, and currently serves in editorial capacity for the International Journal of Mechanical Engineering Education, and Journal of International Engineering Education. He is the recipient of the 2018 Outstanding Postdoctoral Researcher Award at the University of Michigan, the 2023 Saul K Fenster Innovation in Engineering Education award at New Jersey Institute of Technology, and multiple best paper awards at the American Society of Engineering Education annual conferences.

Research Interests
Dr. Shekhar's research is the area of Engineering Education Research (EER). EER is a cross-disciplinary field which involves the application of theoretical work and research methodologies from the fields of education, learning sciences, and social-behavioral sciences to conduct research to improve engineering education. Dr. Shekhar focuses on examining the translation of education research into practice and broadening exposure to entrepreneurship education in engineering disciplines. He is PI/Co-PI on multiple projects funded by the U.S. National Science Foundation, National Institutes of Health, and Kern Family Foundation.
