Research Interests
Natural Resource and Environmental Economics • Integrate biophysical simulation, economic modeling and geographic information systems for watershed and resource management • Assess technical, social, economic and institutional barriers for protecting hydrologically sensitive areas in landscapes • Adaptively manage agricultural ecosystem for future climate and land use changes; • Estimate non-market values of natural resources and ecosystem services • Understand environmental efficacy and cost effectiveness of conservation and management practices at watershed and landscape scales Sustainable Environmental Planning • Plan and prioritize conservation buffers placement in landscapes • Implement stormwater and non-point source pollution best management practices in landscape, watershed and site-specific scales • Plan and design sustainable rural housing and communities in China • Assess land use controls for environmental management Frontiers in Energy, Environment and Health • Apply innovative qualitative research methods in studying emerging environmental policies and issues • Conduct innovative statistical modeling in solving emerging health and patient care issues • Conduct life-cycle analysis and impact assessment on bioenergy production and various emerging technologies
