About Me
Angelo Tafuni graduated from Polytechnic University of Bari (Italy) in 2009, and received two Master of Science degrees in Mechanical Engineering, one from New York University in January 2012 and one from Polytechnic University of Bari in December 2014. In January 2016 he received a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from New York University with a main focus on Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics. He is currently an assistant professor in the School of Applied Engineering and Technology at New Jersey Institute of Technology, where he teaches Thermodynamics. He is the director of the Heat and Fluid Transport Engineering Research (HaFTER) Laboratory. He is a member of ASME, APS, ASEE, SPHERIC and ISSNAF. His work has been published on peer-reviewed journals and proceedings of several technical conferences.

Fluid flow around complex mechanical systems (ship hulls, propulsion systems, spacecraft); free-surface hydrodynamics and wave generation/reflection/absorption; multiphase flow and surface tension; study of severe weather phenomena (flooding, tsunami); open-channel flow and related phenomena (scour, coastal erosion); high-performance computing and code parallelization.
