About Me
Andrew J. Ciancia, PE, is a Senior University Lecturer at New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) teaching Soil Mechanics and Foundation Design classes. Prior to arriving at NJIT, he was an adjunct Professor at NYU (10 years) and Rutgers University (2 years). Andy was also Chairman of the Board of Langan Engineering (January 1, 2015- January 1, 2021). Throughout his 26 year tenure at Langan, he has managed some of the company’s most challenging projects in the New York Metropolitan area and across the country.
Andy is a graduate of Rutgers University with a BS and MS in Civil Engineering. He holds professional engineering licenses in nine states, is LEED AP certified, and holds a Diplomate, Geotechnical Engineering (D.GE Certification) from the Academy of Geo-Professionals, ASCE. Andy is a member of The Moles, an ASCE Fellow, a member of the National Academy of Construction, past chairman of the American Council of Engineering Companies, New York, and Chair of ACEC’s Engineering Excellence Committee. He chaired the Soils Panel for the New York City Department of Buildings with the responsibility of updating the Soils and Foundation Section of the 2020 Building Code.
In 2018, Mr. Ciancia was named Engineer of the Year by ACEC New York and Civil Engineer of the Year by the ASCE Metropolitan Section.
