About Me
Zhiming Ji is a Professor of Mechanical Engineering at New Jersey Institute of Technology. He received his B.S. degree from Northeastern University (China), his M.S. degree from Southeast University (China) and Ph.D. degree from Stanford University. His scholarly and research contributions are in the areas of engineering design, robotics and controls, and system integration. He has participated as principal investigator or co-principal investigator in various projects funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF), the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), New Jersey Commission on Science and Technology, and industrial companies. He is a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and National Academy of Inventors (NAI).

Research Interests
1. Development of Condensation-based Vacuum Generation and Integrated Waste Water Treatment Method and Device. One goal is to attain a large-volume sub-atmospheric pressure environment with the new vacuum device. Another is to Integrate the vacuum generation to assist spray flash distillation for improved energy recovery in waste water treatment.
2. Rehabilitation Devices for Movement Therapy of Paralyzed Limbs. Our goal is to develop a novel gait generation device for ambulatory training and rehabilitation therapy in the home or work environment.
3. Modeling and Simulation of Biomechanical Systems and Human Movement. Our goal is to understand the mechanics of postural stability and structural integration (through rolfing) and develop evaluation methods.
4. System Integration and Robotics. Focused topics are mechanisms, computer-aided design, dynamics and control, and optimization.
