About Me
Dr. Wei Yin joins the School of Applied Engineering and Technology at the NJIT in September 2024. He also holds a joint appointment in the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering. His research centers on Biomechanics, with a particular interest in human modeling, wearable sensing, exoskeleton, rehabilitation robotics, and human-robot collaboration. One of his ongoing project is human motor control simulation, in which he utilizes AI/ML and human musculoskeletal modeling to understand human motor control mechanism and predict human physical behaviors during novel settings, e.g. the use of a new designed wearable robotics. He is also interested in applying the approaches to promote the design and development of wearable assistive devices to enhance human mobility and health. His another project is to design and develop a portable dual-tasking test system to quantify cognitive declines, in which he develops wearable arm-hand exoskeletons and integrates them with eye-tracking systems to enable combined cognitive and sensory-motor tests for the quantitative identification and prediction of mental declines, e.g. the Alzheimer's Disease. His study is interdisciplinary in nature, and he collaborates with clinicians from leading rehabilitation hospitals and researchers from YWCC to generate broad impact on both academia and practice.
